The Issue
The company’s head of learning and development was eager to ensure that managers within the business had a genuine understanding of unconscious bias.
He wanted to ensure a consistent, unambiguous approach to people management, communication, inclusion and teamwork existed. It was vital that managers understood the potentially damaging implications for employees and company reputation.
Following a review of recruitment, succession planning and management practices, the company's HR Director established a worrying number of inconsistencies. Some of which placed the company at risk of legal recourse.
Rather than hope the inconsistencies simply faded, the company was eager to implement one standard across the business. A standard every leader and manager understood, and could practically implement, and quickly.
