Prepare to be transported back to the year of 1066. As you and your team compete against your opposition to design, create and successfully fire your catapults…and hit the target. It’s simply a matter of ‘May the best team win’, and the losers, well, just get wet!
Your Team Challenge
Your team has to construct a catapult using only the limited materials supplied. Your catapult must be capable of firing the ‘missiles’ (small sponge balls) at the enemy stronghold that is marked out on the ground – either indoor or outdoor. The catapult must be completely free standing and be robust enough to withstand the rigors of fast-paced, repeat firing. Upon firing, two team members are allowed to hold the catapult in order to steady it (but not hold it together). Now there’s a challenge!
Your team has 20 minutes to successfully complete the task. When your 20 minutes have elapsed firing will commence, whether your team is ready or not.
Your Team Learning
The purpose of this team building activity, apart form having great fun, is to promote creative thinking, collaboration, focus on goals, problem-solving, dealing with change and quality improvement.
Who For?
The activity can be run alongside and as part of other team building tasks or as part of a training and development course. Clients often include Catapult as part of a focused management development training or customer service training course.
